The Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) Program originated as part of the National Defense Act of 1916. The ROTC program consists of three levels of instruction: the senior division, the military schools division, and the junior division. Our unit, the "Eagle" Battalion, is a junior division unit and was established in 1995 following application by Thomas A. Edison High School to the Department of the Army. After our first inspection by U. S. Army Cadet Command, the Eagle Battalion was awarded the Honor Unit with Distinction gold star, the highest possible rating. Our Battalion has successfully maintained this status since the unit's inception. Each cadet proudly wears the gold star on the right side of their uniform jacket just above their name tag.
